Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan, 1993

This award is given to an individual or group of artists who have been acknowledged by the Philippine government for their merits in preserving the country's ephemeral cultural heritage. In accordance with this, a receiver of this award is more likely to be engaged in any distinctively Filipino traditional art form, whose peculiar abilities have surpassed such a high level of technical and artistic expertise that they have been carried on to and largely accepted by current generations in their society with the same level of technical and artistic competence.

The ambahan poetry and other traditional art forms of our indigenous peoples will carry on owing to the commitment of people like Ginaw Bilog. Furthermore, Filipinos are thankful to the Hanunoo Mangyan for preserving an unique heritage from our old civilization that colonial tyranny nearly destroyed. Ginaw Bilog is rightfully proud of himself for fiercely promoting the exquisitely lyrical art of surat Mangyan and ambahan.
